Fan of garage and grime? You need to know about this latest project! The immensely talented UK artist Lemzi is here with his latest creative project (‘Outliers – A Creative Project’, which has been split into three separate chapters, with each chapter focusing on its own particular processes, thoughts and feelings all from the mind of Lemzi himself. Put together with undeniable talent and fantastic music, Lemzi and his collaborators have without a doubt made a project that will resonate with anyone who listens to it. Make sure that you don’t miss this!
Each part of the creative project tells its own story, with it’s own feel and direction of music; all three comprised of the feelings and life experiences of Lemzi, who tells his story with supreme talent. The first chapter in the CP, Polluted Mind, is all about the troubles he’s faced – first expressed in ‘The Slump’, written a month into the first lockdown during the Covid pandemic, the track is a truthful and open dialogue about his mental wellbeing. The first track between Lemzi and his collaborator, TOB, it kickstarted a working relationship that clearly works brilliantly, with a murky feel it allows Lemzi’s lyrics and approach settle into the music perfectly. The next track, ‘Bill Dis.?!’ Showcases his lyrical ability yet again, with the art of real storytelling coming into the mix as he tells a tale of a young man, who is being coerced into a life that doesn’t sit right with him. Yet another fantastic example of his musical and lyrical ability, it’s a strong chapter that is as emotive and thought-provoking as it is good, instantly having you hooked and eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
Chapter 2, Outsyde, is a chapter moving away from the feelings of self-doubt and feeling somewhat directionless, into a chapter that seeks to hold onto, and celebrate, life without boundaries and freedom. The first track in this chapter, ‘Mad Journey’ is a fantastic musical journey that gives a euphoric feel as it organically drifts from place to place, giving it a new feel often throughout. However, the track that really symbolises the message of life without boundaries is the immense, garage-inspired track, ‘Liberty’. A brilliantly bouncy track under a garage theme, it encapsulates the chapter and the project on the whole, and as Lemzi says, “there is a great liberty in having no boundaries”, and that’s what this track is all about.
The final chapter, Reasoning, starts off with ‘Good Grief’, a track that talks on grief and the emotions you go through while dealing with it. Produced by previous collaborator, TOB, it’s another brilliant example of their working relationship as they hit the nail on the head in terms of feel and sound yet again. A track that is dripping in personal experiences, having lost people in his family, it’s a track where Lemzi’s lyrical ability again shines through as he navigates what is a very difficult subject.
On the whole a brilliant project, it’s a creative project that tells stories in ways that can only be done with lyrical and musical talent that deserves and needs to be heard. Gripping you from the first moment to the last, Lemzi shows himself to be an artist who is capable of great things, with a storytelling ability that is not often seen in today’s music. With fantastic UK influence and a good energy, ‘Outliers – A Creative Project’ is a release that you just have to get to know. Do not miss this, by any means.
